Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Alumni gathered for a San Francisco Giants game that featured delighted Mustangs on and off the field.

More than 1,500 Cal Poly alumni filled Oracle Park on July 12 during Cal Poly Alumni’s first-ever Cal Poly Night with the San Francisco Giants. All attendees received limited-edition beanies to wear at the game — adding to the swell of green and gold pride in the stands.

To kick off the night, NASA astronaut Victor Glover (General Engineering ’99) threw out the first pitch, in front of an audience including Giants fans, Cal Poly alumni and his own friends and family watching from the bleachers.

Other highlights included a surprise on-field visit from San Francisco Giants announcer and alumnus Mike Krukow (Physical Education ’73), the national anthem sung by Cal Poly Women’s Beach Volleyball alumni Livy Lee (Business Administration ’21) and Erika Foreman (Music ’23, MBA ’24), and Cal Poly Baseball alumnus, Brooks Lee, taking the field for the Minnesota Twins.
