On Friday, October 21, Cal Poly will host a TEDx event at the Performing Arts Center from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The theme is “Plot Twist,” and 10 speakers will give talks about the lessons learned when life hands out unexpected changes.

This is the second TEDx conference to be held at Cal Poly. “We have brilliant people working on projects across campus, but very few of these people cross paths,” said fourth-year psychology major Cameron Wiese, who spearheaded the development of this event. “We believe that TEDx Cal Poly can be the unifying platform that allows our community to come together and share ideas in a way that’s never been done before.”

The speakers include social entrepreneur Carissa Phelps, professor Don Ryujin, author Hill Krishnan, entertainer Jordan Miller, entrepreneur Luke Fox, author and environmental businessman Michael Shellenberger, social advocate Nicole Huffman, ethics professor Ryan Jenkins, landscape designer Sara Bendrick and technology and inclusivity advocate Vanessa Slavich.

The event is sold out, but will stream live online. For more information on TEDx Cal Poly and possible overflow tickets, visit
