Economics Associate Professor Jason Lepore recently co-edited a book on evaluating warfare in the modern context. The book, “Assessing War: The Challenge of Measuring Success and Failure,” was published by Georgetown University Press in December.

For Lepore, the subject is critical. “Ineffective assessment has resulted in costly decisions based on incorrect information,” he said. “A poorly designed assessment system can limit the success of forces and create unintended negative costs.”

This book is for policymakers, military officers, political scientists and anyone interested in military history and in learning from the mistakes of the past.
