In October, pre-vet animal science major Gwen Gordy performed a hula at the University Union Plaza with the dance team from Hui ‘O Hawai’i, a campus club focused on celebrating Hawai’ian culture. Gordy, a longtime dancer, has been involved with the group for two years, and serves as the club’s dance coordinator.
“Being part of Hui ‘O Hawai’i has been such a meaningful experience, allowing me to connect with my culture and share it with the Cal Poly community,” said Gordy.
The performance was part of Cal Poly’s 27th annual CultureFest, an event hosted by the Multicultural Center showcasing the university’s dozens of cultural interest clubs. In addition to dance performances, the festival featured live music and foods from around the world.
