Mustang Family Camp Returns

Fourth-generation family rancher Loren (Dairy Science, ’98) and his wife Lisa (Political Science, ‘98) Poncia know the joy and value of a strong family tradition. That’s why they are proud to be one of the inaugural Cal Poly alumni families who have made Cal Poly Family Camp a summer tradition since the program’s inception in 2015. Each summer the Poncias take a break from running the 100-year-old family beef ranch in Tomales, Calif. to unplug, unwind with old and new friends, and play with their kids at the historic campsite in Pinecrest, Calif. “Every year more Cal Poly families get in on the fun,” said Poncia. “We even started a new tradition of barbequing grass-fed beef sliders right in the middle of camp. It reminds me of those great days with friends around the barbeque back in San Luis Obispo.”

Cal Poly Family Camp offers Mustangs of all ages an all-inclusive week of hiking, music, guest lectures, athletic competitions, arts and crafts, and enjoying nature with one another. This year’s camp takes place June 17-24, 2017. For more information and to register, visit alumni.calpoly.edu
